Krill oil has quickly gained popularity as an alternative to the well-known fish oil supplements, largely due to the abundance of omega-3 fatty acids.
What are krill?
Krill are tiny ocean-dwelling animals that are very similar to shrimp. They are often eaten by whales and penguins and live in incredibly cold waters.
What are the benefits of krill oil?
Krill oil is rich in eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) which have been proven to contribute to the overall health of the heart and brain.
EPA – EPA is very useful when it comes to many functions, including maintaining joint health, early brain development, burning excess fat before it gets the chance to be stored and reducing neuro-inflammation (cause of depression and ADHD).
DHA – DHA is just as important as its partner. It is essential in muscle recovery, a normal nervous system, fighting inflammation, normal vision and can even lower blood pressure. Pretty handy.
As well as this, krill oil also contains astaxanthin and phospholipids.
Astaxanthin is an antioxidant that appears naturally in certain types of algae and is responsible for the pinkish hue of krill. It has been linked to the growth of healthy hair, promoting glowing skin, improving endurance and positively affecting fatigue levels following exercise.
Phospholipids belong to large group of compounds called ‘lipids’ and are a major part of cell membranes. This means they are a barrier for the skin – hydrating and aiding in repair.
*Users should not exceed a supplemental daily intake of 5g of EPA and DHA combined.

Each 715mg Gelatin capsule contains 500mg of Krill oil (Superba). This consists of:
- 200mg Total Phospholipids (150mg Phosphatidyl Choline, 25mg Choline)
- 110mg Omega 3 (60mg EPA and 27.5mg DHA)
- 50mcg Astaxanthin
