ADEPIS

Alcohol and Drugs Education and Prevention Information Service

Mentor is a national charity dedicated to protecting children and young people from alcohol and drug harms. Having recently been successful in our tender to the Department for Education to deliver a two-year drug and alcohol information and advice service for practitioners working with young people, we will be able to be able to continue and expand our work with schools. As ADEPIS, the Alcohol and Drug Education, Prevention & Information Service, we will be working with colleagues in DrugScope and Adfam, and through the Drug Education Practitioners Forum, and many organisations, teachers and practitioners around the country.

The resources we have already produced (see below) focus on general principles and guidance, and draw on eight years work with the Drug Education Forum, which supported local authorities and schools to implement best practice in drug education. This spring/summer we will be doing some research to find out more about what’s going on on the ground. We will share teaching resources and case studies of good practice that we come across and identify the most important gaps for us to fill.

Over the next two years from April we will produce more tools and guidance, and share further resources, with a particular emphasis on promoting evidence-based programmes and approaches. We will also be running regional training seminars in collaboration with the Drug Education Practitioners Forum.
